Saturday night's 6:00 show is probably one of the most unusual shows I have ever anchored. During our first weather “hit", our meteorologist wasn't feeling well… so we dropped the rest of the short weather forecast in the middle of it and went back to some news stories.

When we got into the commercial break, I realized that we wouldn't have a meteorologist for the rest of the show… and I had about 60 seconds to figure out how we were going to fill the next 4 minutes that was suppose to be the main weather forecast. I figured “What the heck... I can just read the information off the weather graphics for the folks at home, right?"

HA!

In the commercial break, I found a wireless microphone, ran over to the weather lab, tried to find some notes about what was going on in the weather...


Robertson letter offers ORU help

No plans for collaboration between Oral Roberts University and Regent University had been announced as of Wednesday, but Regent President Pat Robertson issued a written statement offering help and affirmation to ORU.

Four Regent administrators, not including Robertson, and a former academic leader at the Virginia college visited ORU on Monday. ORU board of regents Chairman George Pearsons said last week that Robertson had offered advice to ORU officials on running the school and had contacted ORU board members to discuss options for the two Christian universities.

Robertson's statement Wednesday said, “Regent stands ready to offer support and assistance to ORU," but it did not give any details about what the school could offer.

Judy Baker, a spokeswoman for Regent, said she did not have specifics nor did she know when more .


Naviscan's PEM Flex(TM) Scanner Shows Promising New Data in Breast ...

SAN ANTONIO, Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Naviscan PET Systems(R), a privately held company specializing in high resolution PET scanners, announced today at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium -- new clinical data from a study using the PEM Flex scanner in breast cancer management.

PEM Flex(TM) Solo II is a commercially available, FDA cleared high resolution PET scanner designed to image small body parts such as the breast and hand. Solo II utilizes PET technology for the breast application known as positron emission mammography or PEM which allows physicians to visualize and characterize lesions as small as two millimeters in size.

Kathy Schilling, MD and medical director of Breast Imaging and Intervention at the Center for Breast Care at the Boca Raton Community Hospital in Florida presented data from their study involving 90 breast cancer patients, comparing the effectiveness and accuracy of breast imaging with PEM, MRI and WB PET/CT for pre-operative surgical planning.


Bristol-Myers Squibb and Pierre Fabre Provide Update On Vinflunine ...

PRINCETON, N.J., and PARIS, Nov. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Bristol- Myers Squibb Company (NYSE: BMY - News) and Pierre Fabre Medicament reported today that they are terminating their license agreement for the development of vinflunine, a chemotherapy agent under investigation for the treatment of advanced or metastatic bladder cancer and other tumor types. Vinflunine was developed by Pierre Fabre Medicament and licensed to Bristol-Myers Squibb in 2004 for specific territories. Based on a review of the clinical development program and the decision not to file a new drug application for bladder cancer in the United States, coupled with an analysis of Bristol-Myers Squibb's Research & Development priorities, the companies have jointly decided that all rights licensed to Bristol-Myers Squibb for vinflunine will be returned to Pierre Fabre Medicament.
