As it turned out, he had been in the treatment group - he had been prayed for. Fred Sicher, Targ's coauthor, reminded her of this patient after a confirmation study was completed. Although AIDS was no longer a death sentence, brain cancer still was.

In 2000, she applied to the National Institutes of Health's Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine for $1.5 million to cover two 150-patient trials - one on brain cancer, and another confirmation study on AIDS.

Indevus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: IDEV) announced positive results from its Phase II octreotide implant trial in patients with acromegaly, a disorder characterized by excessive blood levels of growth hormone (GH) and insulin- like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). The implant utilizes the Company's patented Hydron technology to deliver effective levels of octreotide for six months. Octreotide is a synthetic peptide that mimics the natural hormone somatostatin to block release of GH. In the recently completed six-month trial, the octreotide implant effectively suppressed levels of GH and IGF-1 at rates similar to those seen with current FDA approved injectable formulations of octreotide. In addition, the drug was well tolerated.

"I am extremely pleased to report the successful completion of our octreotide implant trial and we are looking forward to the initiation of our Phase III program in the first half of 2008," stated Glenn L.

Law should make a clear distinction

Definition of Cesarean Section

There are three main types of cesarean operations, each named according the location and direction of the uterine incision:

Low Transverse, a transverse (horizontal) incision in the lower uterus

Low Vertical, a vertical incision in the lower uterus

Classical, a vertical incision in the main body of the uterus

Today, the low transverse incision is used almost exclusively. It has the lowest incidence of hemorrhage during surgery as well as the least chance of rupturing in later pregnancies.

In the classical operation, a larger vertical incision allows a greater opening; it is used in some emergency situations as well as for fetal size or position problems.

It would be logical to most Americans that having openly gay adults supervising impressionable young boys under the age of consent might be a bad idea, setting aside moral or religious considerations. It would also be logical to most Americans that private organizations reserve every right to set membership standards on moral and/or religious considerations. And to most lay persons, it would seem downright un-American for any American city to evict the Boy Scouts of America, of all organizations, from city-owned property for what amounts to political correctness.
