Top 10 Unusual Ecological Sources of Fuel
We live in an oil dominated world: who gets it holds the power. That's why the western world is struggling to find new fuels that would free it from an oil-and-gas based economy, which renders them vulnerable to the blackmail of some oil-and-gas rich countries, like many in Middle East, Russia or Venezuela, where human rights do not mean much. Not to mention the funds terrorism gets from oil trade... Nuclear energy is not a reliable option, as its wastes contaminate the environment for millennia; wind and sun energy are not enough, and by now, hydrogen fuel seems a remote option. Another issue: about 1.6 billion people (a quarter of the Earth's population) still does not benefit from electricity, and 2.4 billion people mainly use coal, dung or wood for cooking and heating. The smoke produced by these conventional fuels kills 2.5 million women and children, annually.
Overweight and Obese
All four groups will receive behavioral treatments that teach about appropriate lifestyle, exercise needs, attitudes, relationships and good nutrition. In addition, those in the first group will follow a low-calorie diet that provides 1,200 to 1,500 calories a day. They will eat one planned meal a day, using the food guide pyramid to make their food selections. The other two meals will consist of a meal replacement formula. Group 1 patients will also be allowed two snacks per day. The second group will follow a very-low calorie diet consisting of 800 to 900 calories per day. All meals will be made by using a commercially prepared nutritional product. The third group will follow a diet plan similar to that of those in group 1. But group 3 participants will also receive medication to help them lose weight.
Painting provides cheery outlet for ovarian-cancer patient
Ann Cavett can see promise in a tarnished cup and potential in an old teapot. Using brushes and paint, the 62-year-old decorative artist transforms ordinary objects into things of beauty. When she began painting 27 years ago, not only did Cavett discover a talent she never knew she had, but she also found a creative outlet that would prove to be vital therapy many years later when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. "Your mind is just totally fixed on what you're doing," says Cavett. "You don't have time to think about all the things that are wrong with you." Cavett first heard the word "cancer" on Monday, Aug. 30, 1999. .
FOXSexpert: Ridiculously Obvious Sex Studies of 2007
Between differing political ideologies, the withdrawal of federal agency-support for sexuality research, difficulty attaining human subject committees' approval' the threat of lawsuits, and the view of sexuality issues as taboo, little sex research is being conducted during these times when it comes to your sex life. Yet every year, a handful of research reports are released, which always invite the questions: Did research really need to confirm that? And who's funding this kind of crap anyway? The following are among the most notable of the Ridiculously Obvious Sex Findings of 2007: — People like to have sex for all sorts of reasons. So should it be any surprise that, when asked to give 237 possible reasons for putting out, the most common responses from college students included: wanting to experience physical pleasure; being attracted to their lover; or just simply sex feels good? Perhaps the tragic bit about these findings is that researchers at the University of Texas spent five years and their own money confirming these ridiculously obvious motivations for wanting to knock boots.
Key Indicators For Quality Colonoscopy Identified
OAK BROOK, Ill., Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Defining measurements and identifying quality standards in the delivery of colonoscopic care is a major priority for the nation's leading gastrointestinal endoscopic healthcare association. The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) recently identified objective measures related to colonoscopy. Using these guidelines and measurements, endoscopists can assess and improve their performance when delivering patient care. "Quality Indicators for Colonoscopy" was published as a supplement to the April 2006 issue of GIE: Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, as part of a collection of quality indicators documents. "Setting quality standards for colonoscopy is a foremost concern for ASGE. These standards will assist in the fight to prevent colon cancer and for successful diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of digestive health conditions," said Gary W.
Crackdown to catch out bogus blue badge users
Officers have been checking badges on the street and then phoning the registered users to make sure the badge is being used correctly. It comes after a similar initiative earlier this year left nine drivers facing criminal charges for blue badge fraud. Forty four out of 55 badges checked at that time were found to be either fake or being misused. Disabled groups today hit out at the "selfish" drivers abusing the system and warned many people with disabilities were now worried about leaving their blue badges on display for fear they would be stolen. David Griffiths, chief executive of Ecas, a city-based support group for people with disabilities, said: "We know there is an awful lot of selfish, fraudulent behaviour going on in Edinburgh, and there is really no excuse for it. "I think people are not just doing this because of the convenience but also because they can avoid the parking charges.
IN OUR VIEW: Mormonism is no cult
Jesus is the eternal Son of God, the Creator, co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and Holy Spirit (John 1:1-14; Colossians 1:15-20; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:1-13).Mormonism• A "council of the Gods" created the world. "In the beginning, the head of the Gods called a council of the Gods; and they came together and concocted a plan to create the world and people it … In all congregations when I have preached on the subject of the Deity, it has been the plurality of Gods" (Joseph Smith, History of the Church, Vol. 6, pp. 308, 474).No, the mormon fruit is the sheep's clothing! Covering the ravenous wolf (Mormon Doctrine)!. .
