Low-Impact Cosmetic Surgery Treatments Revolutionizing Industry

New England Cosmetic Surgery is challenging the risky practices of traditional cosmetic surgery with new treatment innovations that eliminate use of general anesthesia. New England Cosmetic Surgery today introduced the first low-impact body sculpting practice in the Northeast, headed by renowned Surgeon Dr. Steven Margolis -- bringing revolutionary minimally-invasive treatment to improve body image with virtually no pain, scarring or bruising. From safe new breast augmentation and liposuction breakthroughs, to even less invasive skin treatments using radio frequency heat treatment, the procedures are so minimally-invasive, patients typically walk out of the office on their own after surgery -- and can shower the very next morning.Experts report that over 16 million Americans choose to have cosmetic surgery procedures each year.

Govt rejects funding breast cancer drug

A drug for women with advanced breast cancer has been rejected for a government subsidy, prompting calls to have it added to a specialist funding scheme.

Tykerb was approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) in August but has since been turned down twice for a subsidy under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS).

The expensive drug is designed for women with the extremely fast-moving HER2-positive form of breast cancer who have failed on the blockbuster drug Herceptin.

The pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) currently subsidises the $45,000 treatment under an access scheme with the hope it would win a PBS subsidy.

Clark history book not very kind to grandfather

He died young, before I was born, and I know shamefully little about him. My grandmother and my mother, an only child, are dead, as well, as are others I best guess could catch me up. So if the words of "This Place We Call Home" help shape Allison's legacy, I can do little to flesh it, if not reshape it. I am left wondering.

And I have no one else to blame.

Unusual therapies, intense scrutiny

Elrene Thomas says Dr. Rashid Buttar's unconventional therapies cured her cancer and saved her life.

But Stephanie Kenny calls the Huntersville doctor a "charlatan" whose expensive intravenous infusions were worthless in treating her late husband's advanced cancer.

This divide over Buttar's non-traditional medical practice is at the heart of allegations leveled against him recently by the N.C. Medical Board.

Armed with complaints from Kenny and three others, the state board accuses Buttar of unprofessional conduct for departing from prevailing medical practice by treating patients with experimental, ineffective therapies and charging "exorbitant" fees.

A public hearing is set for Feb. 20, after which the board could reprimand the doctor or revoke, suspend or put limits on his license.

Halle Berry Upsets Diabetics

Maybe it's the hormones from being pregnant, but Halle Berry has lost her mind.

The actress has been quoted saying that she was a Type 1 diabetic but now she has been able to ween herself off insulin to be a Type 2. SOMETHING THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE.

Pregnant HALLE BERRY is winning her battle with diabetes, thanks to a healthy diet and good living. The actress was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes after she passed out while shooting a TV show called Living Dolls when she first arrived in Hollywood. But the disease has now dropped to Type 2 diabetes because Berry is no longer "insulin dependent". She says, "I've managed to ween myself off insulin, so now I like to put myself in the Type 2 category."

Such an assertion is outraging many diabetics.

Type 1 diabetes means your pancreas is dead.

Romney Assails Foes on Immigration

As a new poll showed his advantage trimmed in Iowa, the former Massachusetts governor on Tuesday singled out the two Republicans giving chase here and likened them to Democratic front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton. "There are those people in both parties who are in a sanctuary state of mind, who believe in sanctuary cities, who believe in policies which are sanctuary in nature," he said.

Just weeks before voting begins, the race in the leadoff caucus state has tightened. Romney led in Iowa by double-digits in polls for months but now is trying to curb Huckabee's recent rise in surveys and gains among religious conservatives, while working to prevent Giuliani from mounting a more serious challenge.

Underscoring the fragile state of Romney's lead here, a CBS News/New York Times poll released Tuesday showed Romney with 27 percent backing by likely GOP caucus-goers.
